Would you live in a gated community that promises no crime?

I like the idea, but 1 acre lots are horrible. I hate neighborhoods and being packed in with people.

It seems to be an interesting concept. Its good that they are pushing 'proper training' for firearm owners. I don't like being boxed into just doing one activity though, itd be something i'd like to attend maybe once a week, but definitely not everyday for years on end.

I wouldn't live with an HOA again, ever, for anything.
Some people shouldn't be near a weapon of any sort, regardless of "training".

1 acre is tiny. Around here the zoning usually doesn't allow lot sizes below 3-4 acres.

You're lucky. Here in SoCal they usually pack four houses onto an acre lot.

There are, you just can't afford it. < RIM SHOT >
Seriously, up Auburn- Folsom Road in Granite Bay, in Pilot Hill, In El Dorado County |I could probably drive you to three or four.
we're not talking pre- fabs or modulars here, we're talking sticks and stucco monstrosities, with HOA's so far up your ass you might as well be living at Mom's.... not that Mom's is a BAD THING, per se.....

Of course, it's much easier to enforce martial law on large groups of people , all in the name of "safety".;)

They can't promise no crime, maybe they can keep criminals who do not live there out most of the time but the residents themselves are still free to commit crime. I guarantee there are men that live there who abuse their spouses/children, those that cheat on their taxes, etc....

Of course not... I'm sure they think martial law won't apply to them.
They won't believe it's really happening even after the nice policeman is parked at the gate.
Fences work in two directions.

All this does is make any criminal more likely to arm himself , or work in a pack.

if it was a nudist gun group, and 90% of the participants were lipstick lesbians, I'd consider it

Some one coming into one of "those" homes is looking for some new hardware.
They will have found the "easiest" target.
FWIW, every day in the course of doing my job, I am constantly amazed at how easily I get into "secure" developments, and with a little social engineering, I can get by too many for anyone to be smug about gated communities and what that means as far as "security" is concerned.
I've picked up tips on how to get by those gates from LANDSCAPING CREWS, hint hint wink wink..... unowhutimeen.... ;) dudes could be MS-13 how in the f%&*! would I know|?

obviously if someone WANTS to break in to ANY development, they will. but for the average criminal looking for a score, this community is a deterrent. Most criminals look for the easiest way to break the law.

Or, to put it simpler - If one house has padlocks, laser tripwires, trapdoors and gun owners, and the next house has an unlocked front door and nothing else, and both have the same amount of valuable loot inside, which one will the criminal enter?
