Would you live above a hair salon?

I found a place I like that is close to work. The only problem is that it is above a hair salon.

My co worker said that I might have to worry about the fumes from the chemicals to perm hair and stuff, since I'm going to live right above the salon. should I be worried about lung damage? I also have a pet bird, should I be worried about the fumes hurting the bird?

How toxic is hair stuff?

I got my hair cut the other day and someone was getting their hair dyed, I swear I was going to pass out from the fumes and I'm generally pretty chemical smell tollerant.

OSHA should mandate some pretty serious ventilation systems in them.. lol

it wouldn't bother me

if you are so weak that some puny chemicals will hurt you, then you don't deserve to live

I wouldn't worry about hair stuff, but personally, I avoid inhaling the fumes from a NAIL salon.

Nothing like a nail salon. I got my daughter a gift certificate from one last year. I can't believe that the paint wasn't going to peel off the walls.

why don't you go and look at some of the products they use, and then try and figure out if its a bad idea to live there.

do they have good ventilation in the salon? if so, then i suppose living there may be a non-issue.

compare with living above several smokers (i do), easier to detect because of bad smell, thus you roughly know how much is leaking into your home.

of course, you might find it smells temporarily odd/whatever if the place has been closed up for awhile without being aired, i did when i moved here, but various spots have been taped up or fixed, lets just say that there has been significantly less cig smoke entering in my home.
