Would you like it if, AnandTech Forums became the next LinkedIn? Basically job recruiters would come to the forum website and post job openings. They would also see what you like to post about on the forums, how you show your skills in the forum, as well as how you help other posters with problems and solve them. From that, if the job recruiters or HR staff see that you fit in to a available job position or with their office community, they might PM with you and might recommend or even ask you in for an interview.

A good thing from a chnge like that would be an increase in the AnandTech Forum base.

Just want your opinion on that.

I my self would support an AnandTech like that.
 
Personally I think that that would be awful.
I come here to relax and put on my informal face. I dont want to constantly act like I'm in a job interview here.
 
I assume that theres need to monetize the forums and this is something that's been floated? I can see now why theres the new moderation guidelines.

Is LinkedIn that site that consultants who got my business card fourteen years ago at a meeting concerning a project that I haven't thought about in thirteen years spam me about?

Yeah this, really don’t want an employer trolling thru my posts.
Maybe if there was some kind of alt account generator that would be cool.
Needs to be secure I don’t want resume stuff being sold on some Chinese or Russian hacker market either.

Edit: as a previous hiring manager I wouldn’t want to go by forums because it would be too risky I could learn something about someone that doesn’t relate to the job. Like I have a child with Cancer or I follow this faith or I have a same sex partner. All lawsuits waiting to happen.

So, companies are going to start data mining my Anandtech profile and start trying to sell me shit by spamming my work e-mail? Wonderful.

I don't even have it listed anywhere, but the spammers know that most companies use a first initial lastname at company name dot com e-mail address nowadays.
 
I can't say it's a good idea - but moreso, I just don't think it would work.

No one likes forums anymore... including the layout... reading text... etc... Just wouldn't work IMO.
