Would you like a 1.2GHz PDA???? :-)

i want a pda with good voice recognition, not this bullsh*t with a writing stick.

We're not even all the way there with desktops and voice recognition so it's wishful thinking to expect it from handhelds.

And it's easier and faster to write notes and schedule appointments with a stylus in class or at work in meetings than to talk into your PDA and sound/look like a fuggin' idiot 😀

I want a PDA like the guy had in that old TV show Time Trax . . . not only was it an American Express card, it had a holographic projecter in it. 😉

I want one with a decent keyboard (writing sticks are indeed a piece of garbage), wireless internet connectivity (and not just in the home), and able to install any program that you could install on your PC, because it runs on the same OS (or a streamlined version at least).

true, i was just saying what a pda should have. if i think of something i have to do/idea on the road, i can't peck away with the damned stick. i could but i don't think u'd want me to🙂 writing notes in class, well thats impractical with the stick too, its a pain and i doubt you could do better or even as fast as on paper. not to mention with advanced voice recognition you could just rip straight off the professor😉

ah, well, what do you think... 5 more years? 😛

Um wouldnt that be a tablet PC? Most programs run on the PC would not look so hot on the tiny screens PDAs have.

WinXp
up to 12" screens
up to 60GB HDD
up to 1GB RAM
~16 hour battery life
2-3 pounds...
Any PC software
etc etc etc...

Two of my friends' parents work in a medical practice (orthopedic surgeons and whatnot) and recently converted their office to a paperless system! No more charts...they have a bunch of tablet PCs networked and they just open up the charts on those - really cool. Frees up space, time, and data entry. Saves paper too. 🙂

Right on, man! The handwriting recognition on Pocket PC 2002 PDA's really sucks, and the buttons on the on screen keyboard are too damn small.

While they're at it, I wish that someone would make a PDA with a pocket joystick mouse! I hate having to remove and run the stylus every time I want to quickly check something on my PDA.

I want a tablet PC which is fast enough for web browsing/e-mail/chat, 3 pounds or less and costs under $800.

Maybe in a few years it'll happen.

Itll happen before three years, my bet is by next Christmas. Early adopters are really going to get a shaft with tablet PCs, but the prices will drop quickly over the next year. Top of the line might always be $2500, but there will be sub $1000 tablet PCs.

I think that was an AT&T Universal Mastercard named S.E.L.M.A.
