I have a P4 2.4C Retail and an Abit IS7-E. With the LAPPED retail heatsink and Arctic Silver Ceramique I was at roughly 42C idle and 64C load at default voltage OCed to 3.0ghz. I just received my Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu and a tube of Nanotherm PCM+. I am wondering if many of you out there lap your Zalmans? The finish doesn't seem too mirror-like to me, but it would be an awkward HSF to lap. Any suggestions?

I received my 7000-Cu today and don't plan on lapping it. The finish looks much smoother than any heatsink I've ever seen.

I can't stand the noise of my retail Intel HSF. The 3.0 and 3.2 c's now use a copper base, aluminum fins but the fan is loud when it gets above 4200RPM's or so.

normally I wouldn't but if it seems that the bottom was damged I would try to lap, (Zalmans have mirror finishes). Better yet if it was scratched up I'd RMA it.
