This guy would!

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/twin-convicted-of-killing-man-over-fantasy-cards-worth-100k/

PENSACOLA, Fla. - William Cormier III, a Florida man, was convicted of first-degree murder Thursday and sentenced to life in prison without parole for beating a former Pensacola newspaper reporter to death with a hammer and burying his body in a concrete-covered pit so he could steal a collection of fantasy role-playing cards worth $100,000.

It really isn't about MtG cards, but about an item valued at over $100,000. The fact that it is a "nerd thing" is pretty irrelevant, especially in the age of the internet where anyone can find the approximate value of anything.

Chances are the guy will plead self defense, because they were currently in a MtG match and the victim was "killing" his deck.

This, its not like the guy wanted to add the cards to his deck/s. He wanted the cash.

Now that I think about it, I am wrong. Clearly, the victim activated the guy's trap card: Stand your Ground. Thus, it resulted in a dead guy. And, since they were playing for keeps, obviously he got to keep the deck.

We already know the answer is a resounding 'YES'.

Every day people kill for much less money that that. H3ll, they kill for Nike shoes.

To be fair, some of the shoes in question have sold for almost $100k on eBay.
