say you own a business... or you're an IT/IS/MIS Director.

would you hire me if i wanted to work for you...
and as a proof, i'd hack into your company's computer?

of course, i would never hack with a malicious intent.

would you?

Absolutely, right after I hire the guy who breaks into my home, wrestles my wife to the ground and rips her clothes off, then calls me and says "Mr. Stevens? Hello, I'm a home security and personal protection consultant, and we've really got to talk about your home security."

I would, if they didn't do anything bad

but if it was just out of curiousity then yes. They're be a damn good employee with the skills so why not?

of course, if you cause damage, it's like burning the bridge that leads you to your hopeful destination.

i'd just show that i can hack in... no damage done.

might as well hire you, since you have access anyway.
The antivirus companies use a similar philosophy.

Well, if I was you, I'd get permission first, or under their supervision as a condition for your employment or something.

I would be afraid to see what would happen if he hacked you to show he could... then you didn't hire him. It could be a big mess to clean up :Q

Erm I'd say this is more the guy who breaks into your home and leaves a note on the refrigerator door saying about it. You have of course given him permission to try and break into your home. :p

If you want a job like that, then get your degree, speciliaze in security, set up a consultancy, and contact companies BEFOREHAND.

I'd pretend to be interested in hiring you so I can gather the evidence to send you off to juvie and/or get you expelled from HS.

I'd bet most of the people saying "yes" haven't been in a position of authority at a company before. Not too many people besides John Travolta are looking for l33t cowboy hackers on the payroll. Some company might hire you under the table for criminial industrial espionage against a competitor though.

you would just be exploiting known secuirty flaws, id take it as an admission of passivity.
