Would you have bought these open box speakers from Best Buy?

I was cruising a Best Buy in Plymouth, MA a couple of days ago and found a Polk PSW-110 subwoofer (10", 100W front-firing sub....) for $72 + tax. The sub looked like brand new, not a mark on it. Got the not-too-busy sales guy to hook it up in the Magnolia center and it seemed to work perfectly. So, bought it as my trusty old JBL sub was starting to have amplifier issues.

Then, a couple of days later, in the BB in Hyannis, I found an open-box set of Energy CB-10's for $74 + tax. Had them hooked up and they also seemed to work perfectly and, again, looked brand new...not a mark, etc., on them.

So, have any of y'all ever taken a chance on BB open-box speakers? What got me to buy them, outside of the price, was the 30-day right of return for them....seemed I couldn't lose.

years ago I purchased an open box Sony bookshelf stereo system from Circuit City, I didn't have any issues with it for a long time, eventually the CD player quit working for some reason, but it seemed like every CD player in every bookshelf system of the same vintage quit working at about the same time as well. If you're happy with the sound and the price, I don't see any reason to be concerned that the speakers were open box.

I bought the same sub but our bestbuy had it for $55 (open box too). If it all checks out and with the return policy I've never worried about it.

I also bought a plasma that was an open box item... it was like 6 years ago and it was a 50" plasma, at the time the model new was like $1500 but they had an open box one for $750 (50% off)... I managed to get the sales guy to throw in the 4-year cover all plan from bestbuy for free so figured no matter what I was safe. 6 years later the TV is still working great

That is a really really really good price on the CB-10s. I wouldn't have purchased the polk sub though.

Well, the PSW110 can be an odd buy depending on what you're looking for. It's not a very robust subwoofer, but I'm guessing you expected that for the price. I use one upstairs where I just want a nice "hint of bass". It also wasn't that easy for me to find a cheap subwoofer (< $100) that had auto-sensing on/off. which the PSW110 has.

I think I paid $80-90 for it new.
