Would you guys run an FX-51 if you could?

Would you guys run an FX-51 if you could?
I am kinda setting up a deal with a guy for one. Are they a good chip to run? I already have an A64 3200 on its way to me. Would there be a huge advantage with the FX-51? Is the 53 way better? I just dont know much about them. I hear they are unlocked and can oc well. Can youguys give me some input, please. =)

Also, what mobo would you run with it?

Would my mem be ok; TwinnXpc4000 Corsair ?

I find the FX chips insanely overpriced personally.

For example, a 3400+ A64 will smoke an FX-51 for half the cost, plus it won't require ECC memory.

The best values for the A64 chips are not with the FX's. For what you're probably paying, you could get a Socket-939 CPU, which is probably the exact reason why the guy is selling you his FX. :beer:

the 3400+ doesnt smoke the fx-51. the fx-51 still peforms better then the 3400+, but not by much. besides that, the rest of wut sickbeast mentioned is correct.

i'd get the FX-51 if it was cheap enough. the multiplier is unlocked so you can jack that right up to 2.6ghz+, then it would smoke anything on the market.

No way in hell. If offers the worst price/performance ratio of any chip on the PC planet. I don't wear air jordans either or jewerly but my omega when my wife makes me for church and going out fancy places and stuff. I'd much rather get a A-XP overclock and bank $700 in accuring assets so I no longer am working in my 40's. So many fish left to catch.

A p4EE any flavor is the worst price/performance ratio of any chip family.

If only there was a good Opteron board with a locked PCI/AGP bus , it would scream.
Since the multipliers are only unlocked going down, you need a higer bus to get up there with the FX chips, but it could be done with the proper chipset. I would love to have an opteron K8T800 Pro cpu/board combo.
