Would you go to Maccos or Earl Schieb for a paint job?

I plan on getting a paint job in the spring time and just wondering if any of you had any experience with these shops.

Either can do an OK job. Depends on your needs (are you just doing it to sell the vehicle?) Also, if you do all your own prep work.

OTOH: You can paint yourself for about the same price. Check out this forum. Lots of great info on doing it yourself.

I'll be painting my bus myself this spring or summer, after I move to Denver.

It's going to depend on the particular shop and more importantly the particular people who work on your car... One is better than the other, as a blanket statement, would be inaccurate.

might wanna let us know WTF these 2 places are, because i have no idea WTF you are talking about

Depends on the value of the car.

MAACO and SCHEIB advetise cheap prices for there basic work. But they alos do have a more expensive paint and body service line-up.

While there basic paint is fine for a '72 Beetle or a '87 Yugo I wouldnt put it on my '99 Ford or my '92 Nissan Convertible.

I've had an Earl Sheib paitn job on my old '87 Jeep Comanche pickup truck. I think they did a pretty crappy job.

Mop & a bucket

Vs.

Broom & a bucket

One will have smaller visable defects.

"I'm Earl Scheib - And I'll paint your car any color"

("I'll also paint your chrome, your window glass, & tires and rims, and overspray the upholstery while I'm at it")

Personally, I would spend a little more money and buy a nice compressor and the tools for doing it yourself, it'll probably be a little more in the end, but at least you have full control over everything

If you don't want to, Maaco will do a fine job depending on the location, some are good while some are just crap
