Would you go to a job interview if you got caught in the rain and were soaking wet??

So I had a job interview at 1pm in Chicago. Get of the train a couple of blocks from the building, its raining. I get my umbrella, i'm all good...Until I stand near a corner to cross the street...car comes racing down street hits a puddle in the lane closest to the curb and me and this lady get all soaked....My tie my long sleeve shirt...I looked and felt like a jackass. I was in a panic...nearest clothing store was too far, and I had like 8 minutes before the interview..Went to barthroom in building dried up as much as I could, explained what happened...damn i felt dumb.

If it wasn't because I was laidoff 3 months ago and really need a job i would have never gone....

Showing up soaking wet with a chance to explain and the interviewer understanding is a lot better than just not showing up at all.

Of course. You explain it it's unlikely to have any bearing on anything. Brush off an interview, however, and you better have a much better reason than "I got wet".

Of course. It's a lot better to be wet then for the employer to think you're flakey and irresponsible. Plus, even if you don't want that job, you never know who knows who.

If they didn't hire me because I had a legitimate excuse for being wet I would be pissed.

lesson of the day: never take public transportation.

If you had your car, you could have parked in a nice dry parking garage. :D

No voters, are you crazy?

So you're dripping wet. So what, it's only water. You go in and laugh about it. If they can't laugh with you, and they don't give you extra character points just for coming in like that, ON TIME, then fvck 'em! They can't see what's important, just like Dezign's biatchy boss ;) ,and you probably wouldn't want to work there anyway.

Uh, you ever been to Chicago? If he drove, he'd need to walk from the parking garage (or the parking meter on the street) to the interview IN THE RAIN. A car's no help there, and traffic could have made him late. The train isn't affected by the traffic on a rainy mid-day afternoon.

Well, when you don't have a job spending the $10-$15 city parking is going to cost me its not the best way to spend money.
