Would you give a negative ebay rating for this?

I recently purchased a laptop on eBay. It was a fair deal at the Buy It Now price.

First, the seller forgot to put my apartment number on the fedex slip. Not a big deal, I called fedex and they corrected it after I noticed an "incorrect address" notification on the tracking site. However, I wasn't able to be home to receive it after staying home from work to wait for it on the day it should've arrived. I called FedEx again and the rep stated that I couldn't pick it up at my local home delivery distribution center as they didn't have a customer pickup area. (WTF?)

So, I emailed the guy 2 times to ask if he could request a redirect to my office (didn't use that at first because he stated only verified PP addresses in his auction and my office address isn't verified as I don't receive a CC bill there). I got no response from the seller.

I called FedEx again and begged and pleaded to pick it up and they finally allowed me to.

After receiving the laptop, it had a small crack on the rear plastic by the screen as well as stickers all over the bottom. The seller had stated "no scratches or marks" on the laptop. Again, not that big of a deal, but combined with the previous shipping/communciation frustration, it has me pissed. Especially after considering a crack like that usually indicates that its been dropped (works fine though).

So would you give a positive, neutral or negative rating for this transaction?

ALWAYS contact the buyer/seller about problems before leaving feedback.

The shipping stuff by itself doesen't warranty neutral/negative, but the crack might, depending...

Make him aware of it. Take a picture of it. You never know, he may be diplomatic and offer to give a little of your money back.

I would ask for the seller to give you extended warranty because who knows how long that'll last, if cracked.. or return it for ur $ back...

does it look like damage that might of occured during shipping? obviously your package was in limbo for a while and it seems like no company can take care of a package these days....

I'd ask for a refund and leave a neutral. He'll probably leave you a neutral or negative in retaliation, unless you wait until he posts feedback for you 😛

What kind of stickers are on the laptop? Is the crack a deal breaker? I wouldn't leave a negative or a neutral without talking to him first. If the crack is a big deal, send the laptop back and have him refund your money. Don't put up with a misleading item description, but give him a chance to work it out.

I always try to contact the seller before leaving negative feedback (which you already did) but then I would leave him negative feedback for that. I am a big stickler about the product being as it was described.

I would say neutral. That would piss me right off if it had a crack in it and stickers all over it when it said that it didn't... but thats just cosmetic not enough to warrant a negative.
