Would you fight if you were in this situation?

I almost had to lay someone out today. We went down to watch a chick fight, and we missed it. My crew split -- three went to the scene that was over with, and two went back the other direction to catch the bus and/or find out what happened. I went with the first three, and then i said i was going to double back and catch up to the others who were catching the same bus as i was going to. As i was walking, i walked by a big group of about 4 guys, and one was talking about how he wanted to fight now that he just saw one. Then, they quit talking for a second, and rushed up and pushed me in the back. I turned, tossed down my bag, and said "What the fsck!" He looked at me, sort of surprised. I was probably the same size as all of them, but there were 4 times as many as there were me, and my friends were just out of distance to see and/or call for. He said "Let me hit you in the face. Just once..." I said "Fsck that, if you want to fight me one versus one lets do it, but you arent just going to hit me in the face. I'm not about to fight alone with your whole crew here either..." So then he kinda took a step back, and i picked up my bag. Then i put my bag on and started walking on my original path. I was cool about it of course, and then i called for the other two departing people to wait up. They stopped, and i caught up to them... All was over.

Should i have fought? I didn't want to just blast the guy, although i probably could have just right crossed him in the face, tackled him against the fence/ground, and started laying bombs on him. We were on a sidewalk, and there was fast traffic on the side. Plus i was outnumbered 4 to 1. Should i have done it or just did the same thing that i did?

Absolutely not, you made the smartest decision. Fighting in self defense is one thing, fighting just because somebody pissed you off is another. When he backed down and you walked away, that is the act of a real man. ;)

interesting. you could've just reenacted a scene from fight club

you: hit me
him: you want me to hit you?
you: yeah, come on
him: well, where?
you: surprise me, come on!
him: ok... *hits you in the ear*
you: aah, fvck! you hit me in the ear!

Depends where you live. In a rough part of town if the odds were not in my favor I would take off.

Nah. Not worth the hassle. You asserted yourself and they backed down. Most people don't want to fight.

Chalk one up for you!!!!! Congrats! :)

Good way to stay smart and stand up for yourself.
I would say something, but GF summed it all up very nicely :)

Pid, TYRP

You would be in the hospital right now after those 4 guys worked on you for a minute.

Getting jumped is probably fun, actully. The only problem is, you cant put anyone out of the game. You get one, then you have to fight off another - no chance for the finisher...

Either way, if i would have fought, the others would have done one of two things. 1) See me beat their friends ass, throw me off, laugh at him for fscking with someone and then not backing his talk up. Or 2) Jumped me and thrown me into traffic.

I wasnt about to take the risk. I'm glad you guys think i did the right thing./

It's all about the hit and run. He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day.

You did the right thing - not many people would have the guts to walk away - its always the bigger man who walks away than the man who fights.

<< Then you've really never been jumped. It's not fun, even when you are just watching. >>

If you dont mind taking your hits, its not bad. You learn how to fight better and also it is satisfying if you can hold them off :)
