...sending $265 to a guy with a 144 positive heatware? The guy is demanding the money first before he ships out the item.

We agreed on $200 now and then $65 later this week. I sent him the $200 and told him I would send him the remaining $65 once he showed me a delivery confirmation number so I know that the thing was shipped.

He just refunded my $200 out of the blue and stated this:

Hey, I'm really sorry but I was hoping you would have waited for my
reply back as I asked in the last PM before sending any money. The
vaugeness of a date on receiving the remainding funds just won't work for me
right now. I know you wanted the XXXX by the weekend, but msg me
after you are able to pay in one shot if you're still interested.

My last messages to him last night was:

Well, I guess I'd like to wait until I get it if that's ok with you. Are you needing the money asap or something? Care to explain why?

With most of the high priced items I buy off Anandtech I usually cross-ship with the person unless they need the money asap.

Gonna send the first payment now.

Hey XXXX,

First payment sent Let me know when you get it out! I'd feel a lot more comfortable sending you the second payment when I have a delivery confirmation number to drool over

Thanks!
Travis

Should I just go ahead and send the full $265 to him? I'm a little leary that he wants the payment in full and can't wait for the $65. All he has to do is show a delivery confirmation number and I'd send him the payment.

Also, what happens if the Xbox shows up and USPS messed it up? What happens if we need to file an insurance claim but he can't refund my money because he spent it already? I thought the money wasn't suppose to be touched until both parties are happy with the deal and the deal is finished.

Thanks all. :)

Call him and talk to him in person before you send him squat. Heat doesn't mean anything except that they have had that many good deals BEFORE yours. Even people will perfect heat mess up. Not saying he will, but just a word of caution.

If you are that worried, just back out. If you ask me, The risk of losing 265 dollars isn't worth an xbox with whatever extras he has. Tons of people are selling Xboxs in the FS/FT and I'm sure you could find a handful of others that will match his deal.

why in the world would you expect someonewith 144 positives to ship 1st?
if someone asked me that, that would be the end of the deal.

I don't remember saying that I was asking him to ship first. I was just going to cross-ship with him, like I've done with about 90% of my big money deals.

Also, I don't have the remaining $65 now, but will have it in a couple days. I've got a Gamecube auction ending right now along with getting a check from my job, so having the $65 will not be a problem. I've told him that countless times and he was OK with it.

I'm not looking for anyone to be critized, just wondering if you guys would send him the full payment without any hesitation.

If he was plotting to steal your money, wouldn't he just take what he could get (the $200) and run???

He wants the money upfront, and if he's got a better rating than you, I think he gets to call the shots. If you're not comfortable with it, then find someone with a lower rating whom you can boss around.

Bottom line: I would do it.

Seems reasonable to me, and like you (Yzzim) jumped the gun a little on sending payment. Its the way you wanted the deal to go but it doesn't sound like XXX had actually agreed to it yet.
