i was talking about this with my friends the other day and we were debating the pros/cons of meeting people on the internet. i can't really think of many strong pros except for the fact that some people are shy or whatever. what do you guys think? would you ever do it/have you done it?

One of my friends and I once posted each other on some online personal/dating services as a joke. At one point (while I was briefly single) I met one of the guys who responded. He was a nice guy, just not someone I wanted to date. He wasn't some psycho or anything, just a normal person. But I have gotten some weird responses, like right now I have a guy trying to get me to move to Boston or at least fly out there and visit him. No way that's happening.

I think you have to be kinda brave and daring to actually meet the people and if you do, then you should have someone around that you trust to watch your back and make sure people know where you are/what time you'll be back so that they will be alerted is something's not going right.

Just my experience. But overall, I think they're just a sad ploy for attention. I doubt that I would have put an ad up seriously looking for someone, I'd have to be pretty desparate.

Once.. about 2 years ago I posted an ad somewhere (don't even remember where..) and this woman who lives about 300 miles away answered it. We became sort of "friends w/benefits" for a few months, and I still talk with her occasionally. She would like nothing better than to get together with me, but current circumstances forbid it..

She was quite good looking, too (sorry, no pics)

never/never. :) Not my style. I don't like blind dates either unless its one of 4 people I know who set it up. Those are the only people I trust taste wise, and it wasn't easy to earn that. ;)

I would consider it, assuming I was ever single again.

I think it would be at least an option to me if I was single. My work place is very small and there is no one even remotely close to my age so I couldn't even really hook up with "friends of friends". I'm not much of a bar fly and don't do with with small talk and I don't "mingle".

I'm also at a bad age as well. 24. I'm out of the college age so that scene feels uncomfortable to me. But, I'm also too young to really fit in with the next up age group of settled down men that women are interested in.

So yeah, I guess if I was single at this point in time, I would certainly consider it.

My fiance and I met via a blind date setup between her roomate, and my friend who was her roomates boyfriend.
