Would you ever have surgery on your dog to have it stop barking?

My 3 year old yorkie is annoying as sh!t. It barks for about 3 minutes when someone knocks on the door. He looks out a window all day long and barks at people when they walk by, barks at anything and everything! If you yell at him to stop he barks at you. He only stops when I smack his ass (beat him).

I was watching on the View the other day they have this collar that you place around their neck and when the dog barks it sprays citronella at them. Meridith was saying that her dog hasnt barked since he was sprayed the first time.

Edit: And no I wouldnt debark my dog.

Maybe. I WOULD have bullet-surgery on the neighboors' dogs to have them shut the hell up.

BTW, this is your own fault for buying a dog that is light enough to be kicked like a soccer ball 🙂

I have friends who talk alot, you think I can have their voicebox removed? On a serious note, they make a small shock collar as well. The dog wears it for 2-3 weeks (on average) and then you take it off, and they are good to go.

The breeder debarked our Collie before we bought him. While it's nice sometimes to not have him bark, I think it's cruel.

Now, he sounds like a smoker coughing when he barks.

I've seriously been tempted to shoot my neighbor's dogs.

It would be so easy, scoped small caliber rifle right off the back deck...

And then I could sleep at night.

Having a barker too, I don't think I would have her debarked. I might try the spray collar but not the shock one, that just seems way too harsh. has anyone ever tried both collars? did one work better then the other?

Why don't you just stick a pencil into your ears, pop your ear drums, and then you won't have to deal with it anymore?

I'm thinking of having our cat de-meowed. He drives me friggin crazy at night. Up half the night meowing and running around like a maniac. My other cat and my dog both sleep all night (and pretty much all day for that matter). I'll give him some time and see if he calms down. We've only had him for a couple months now and he's about a year and a half old.
