No. I would want to be involved with any children of mine. Knowing that I could have a son or daughter out there and I am cut off from contacting them and being part of their lives would be too upsetting.

If I were desperate for money, sure. So long as you're donating to a sperm bank and not doing some sort of contract directly with the receiving couple you'll be safe. It's that latter scenario, where the donating man doesn't cover his ass well enough, or gets involved in the child's life after the fact, that you hear court cases about.

After i finished grad school i looked into this during my *very* underpaid postdoc. I fit all of TheNewbie's criteria in his post, save for the light hair, but i had a phd. I never heard back from the screening process. That is, i was *rejected.* I was very honest with the family history and mentioned that one of my uncles had type II diabeties. I suspect this was the problem.

i tried back in the day but i didn't pass the test. said mine didn't freeze well or unfreeze well or something. would've been $50 a pop back then. but no "program", you could go once a week was the limitation iirc.

Im a broke ass college student, I always see adds for this on craigslist while looking for jobs but Im a little too shy for that. Plus with the ideas of law suits you guys are bringing up, yeah I dont know. Sounds rediculous at first but I wouldnt put anything past our courts.
