Would you date your friends ex?

Just wondering something.

Lets say you have a friend and his wife that you've known for 10 yrs. Recently that friend decides that he no longer wants to be married and files for divorce. If you were single, would you or wouldn't you date your friends ex? What if he's currently your boss and is one of the only friends you got (not really a great friend at times). What if you really like his ex and get along great with her but don't know what she really thinks of you or would even want to date you? What would you do??

No, none of my friends have ex's that I found attractive enough to date. Besides, I'm married.

in your (hypothetical) situation, no.
just too many variables and uncertainty.

only way I would give it a shot is my friend verbally say yes.

I think that is some sort of violation of a Man Law.

Not unless you wait for > 6 months!

I hate those commercials, btw.. .

Haha, you know I didn't even think about that commercial until now. I was just really thinking about it being some sort of man rule where you don't go dating your friend's ex.

Yes there is this unspoken law that men will not date each other's ex's. What ever happened to honor?

1. you only "get along great with her" because you're not married to her.

2. she breaks up with your friend, she breaks up with you.

3. there's plenty of women out there, you don't have to focus on the one that's immediately in front of you.

Hah, it was a maybe until you added all that boss stuff, and then you laid on the "not such a great friend" stuff. I'd say it's probably a bad idea, but if you're adamant then get a new job first, then go for it.

The real litmus test for this question is whether or not the friend of the ex is really a friend... if it's a true friend there is no way you date her unless she is Eva Longoria hot and you don't want to be friends anymore, lol. In that case, all bets are off. :D

it all depends on how long your friend was with her and how much time has passed since the break-up.

if they were engaged or something, probably not...

if they went out for a few months and he had no problem with me having sloppy seconds, yeah.

Ex-Girlfriend? Sure, if he wasn't hitting it all the time because then it would be weird.

Ex-wife? Hell no.
