I was out with a girl last night who is 27 and has been smoking for 12 years. She was carded at the bar, while the Bartender just looked at me.

Most of my friends smoke, or did for years. All the girls still get regulaly carded. I've even been carded recently.

How old are you, 14?

Trust me. Once they get older you will see the difference.

I would more likely date someone who occasionally smokes weed more than someone who occasionally smokes cigarettes. Why...because I have too many friends who "occasionally" smoke cigarettes...and their is nothign occasionally about it. They may not buy that many cigarettes...but they bum them off people all the time. They smoke a lot more than they think they do.

People who occasionally smoke weed really only occasionally do it...like once a month with some friends some weekend.

I have nothing against people doing either one, but I am a fairly athletic person (run marathons, etc.) and I like it when my girlfriend generally has the same level of athleticism...and smoking cigarettes generally prohibits that to some degree.

I have in the past, but wouldn't again. It sucked. Everytime we got her car, I had to smell that crap. After dinner, here we go again. Late nights in the bedroom after certain activities, she'd have to go outside in the cold for her ever so important "after sex cig". I'd either have to go out there with her and freeze, or stay inside and wait for her cold smelly a$$ to come back in and want to snuggle against me because she's freezing now.

Bleh. No thanks. I'm glad I won't have to worry about that sort of thing again.

Is If she smoked more than 3-5 a day I probably wouldn't unless she was very special (and/or hot). Cigarette breath is just disgusting.

For comparison's sake, I would date a girl that smokes weed.

Same here. Turns out my old girlfriend did smoke *very* occasionally, but never around me. I certainly didn't notice anything; she just told me. But someone who smokes consistantly? Probably not.

Funny thing actually. Was in a bar in Vail after skiing last saturday. Two cute girls walk past us and my buddy gives me a poke in the ribs. At that moment the one pulls out her pack and gives one to her friend. They went from an 8 to a 2 in 3 seconds flat.

Down here 90% of the hot women smoke. So, if you can't deal with it then you are SOL.

My wife smoked for years before we were together. I She quit about 3 years ago. I'd never date someone that smoked again, personally. She now has cervical cancer, and will probably have to have a hystorectomy (sp?) within the next couple of years. I'm just glad we got our daughter first! All of 5 months old now and I can't imagine life without her. And I totally agree with Armitage... nothing makes a hot girl ugly like pulling out a cig... :)

Maybe if she was a light smoker, ie. a pack a week - and was hot, intelligent, and had a really awesome personality. I quit about 2 years back and would prefer not to date a smoker because of the smell, the way it coats walls and household items in tar (well for me at least - but I smoked like a chimney), the effects on health of both parties and the expense.

I'm a non-smoker and dated a smoker. It was like kissing an ashtray. Smelly. Didn't last long.

I agree with Mosh... I started dating a hottie a few years ago who promised to quit. We rented an apartment together, with a few ground rules like no smoking in the house. Soon she was smoking in the garage, and in the car.

She did some other stupid things, so I eventually kicked her out. End of relationship.

It might be different with a girl who was more "considerate" of a non-smoker, but basically kissing her was like kissing an ash tray.

I don't date smokers... period.
