Would you consider buying cigarettes for a minor immoral?

Depends on the situation entirely.
I've been buying cigs for my friends since I've been 14 years old.
I'd never buys cigs for a 10 year old or something, but I see nothing horribly wrong with it for a teenager, they'll just get someone else to or to the public business ashtrays and try to find long shorts.

Where i grew up I could buy shmokes at 16, though when I turned 17, they changed the law to only those over 18 except for the people who were already 16. Back then I would have no problems if they just turned 16 and were left out. Nowadays I would but they better look on the long side of 16 at the least.

nope...they've made the desicion...my actions play absolutely no part in that decision. My 'morality' is non-transferrable, like certain warranties

this baby crawled up to me and asked for cigarettes, I lit one up and put it in her mouth.

She crawled away.

I'd say it's immoral to not buy the cigarettes (or alcohol for that matter). who are you to stand in their way?

Not only immoral, but I seriously couldn't be bothered. I am sure the next Tom, Dick, Or Harry will help out the young lad. I am all set with wasting my time to assist in a negative situation.

How about a member of a society whose laws forbid it? How about an educated person who understands the health risks of cigarettes?

Disclaimer: I'm pretending I believe that you are serious, and not trolling.

It's shocking and somewhat saddening to know that most teens know full and well the health risks of cigs they justs choose to ignore them because they don't care, the future is too far away and hell, they are fvcking invincible.

I have in the past (when asked) bought alcohol for kids under the legal drinking age. I guess that would make me (morally, perhaps legally) liable in some way if they e.g., died of alcohol poisoning, etc. I've never been approached to buy cigarettes, but frankly I doubt I'd say no if this did happen. If I was feeling like a prude, maybe I'd say something like "you realize this stuff is going to give you cancer". Ultimately, tho, I think people, including teenagers, have the right to decide for themselves on these matters.

So true...

Yeah. lol... Some freshman at my school stood near 7-11 asking people to buy him cigarettes... An asian girl pulls up and he gives her a $10 or $20 to buy cigarettes...

My friends didn't want to buy him any :p

Depends on the age. I would never do it regardless, but while I was living/working in europe there were cigarrette vending machines on almost every street on the side walk, and kids would buy them all the time.

And it's not just cig's, it's sex, alcohol, reckless driving, and so on. If their behaviors were risky only for themselves, that's one thing, but they endanger others, and that's where the rest of us need to step in.
