As far as I knew, he was approached by them but declined. However he failed to inform Hitler.

Sources seem to conflict on this part.
 
Absolutely. Main reason he was asked to kill himself, or face the firing squad.

In the Werschmacht, he was considered a defeatist. He believed the only way to save Germany was to make peace with the west, and fight with everything against the Russians.

He never really recovered from that injury he recieved after D-day.
 
with all the conflicting reports, its hard to say, but i'd lean to the side that he was apart.
if not, and if he did hear about it, he might as well been apart by not informing Hitler.

and im not defending hitler in any way, but he didn't do the holocaust. i forget who he put in charge. he only did the war stuff. but then again, he never stopped anything.
 
Well the assassination took place on July 20. 3 days earlier Rommel was wounded by a British aircraft. He was sick in bed when the actual assassination took place.

I would say his role was passive at best.
