92 Miata, 210k, 5 speed and a new clutch. new timing belt (with records). Fresh trans fluid and oil change. Engine pulls strong and trans shifts smooth. Newer brake pads and rotors.

The bad: Body panels don't all match. small frame damage near radiator support behind front bumper. Fenders and bumper cover were replaced, and damage never reported to insurance (clean title). Blinkers don't work (I think its a relay or a bulb). Dash is cracked.

All for $1,200. Keep in mind, I live on an island so prices are slightly inflated here. I was planning on having it be my daily driver/auto cross car since i'm sick of beating my STi up.

Edit: I bought one http://imgur.com/a/vtLoF

97 M edition. 100k miles. Driver seat has some tears, but the rest of the interior isn't in bad shape. Could use some belts, and fluids all around but otherwise the cars cool :)

A Miata isn't my ideal daily driver regardless of the condition it's in. That said, for 1200 bucks why the hell not?

Hell Yeah.

Drive the shit out of it, or flip it and double your money. You have a win/win

30mpg vs 18mpg, seems pretty ideal to me :) I used to have a corolla that was boring as hell to drive.

I uploaded some picture. Difference in the pics vs the car is the blinkers are now screwed in (not taped).

Frame damage though, can't re-sell :\

If anything, strip it and crate motor the bastard. N/A LS1, nothing fancy. Hellish fun, and reliable/economical to boot.

Unless you are on a serious budget - I'd scrape together $3K and find one with less issues - it looks pretty rough.

I've been trying to find a rustless miata here in the Midwest in the $3000 range. No dice. I would easily jump on that one.

A Miata? Don't forget to stop by Victoria's secret and get a pair of panties on your way home.

... and give them to whatever hot lady you pick up in your convertible. Go troll somewhere else.

Seriously, for $1200 it's a no-brainer. My first Miata had more miles on it, was older, and was from New England. Parts are common, support is great, you'll love it.

And, maybe it's just me, but I'm partial to multi-colored Miatas...

If it has frame damage I'd probably pass on it but that's me. I don't know a whole hell of a lot about Miatas but the car you linked needs a complete respray and the frame damage fixed before I'd drive it and that equals $$$.

A picture of the frame damage would be good.

But then you got better? ;)

Sorry my potato phone doesn't take good pictures. Its behind the FR headlamp assembly. it doesn't look that bad tbh, strut towers were still straight and not balooned out, and looking from the wheel well I couldn't see any damage in there. I will have to re-aim that headlamp but that shouldn't be too difficult.

Here in the north west that would be a he'll of a deal especially with most the maintenance documented. +1 jump on that quick

So funny story. I went to check out that car after work today and wanted to drive it again. It wouldn't crank over, so that was shitty. When it finally did there was a huge puff of black smoke out the ass and some rod knock. I told him i'd pass.

However, I just happened to be driving through my Dad's neighborhood and saw someone selling their Miata. It is a 97 M edition, 100,000 miles exactly, not the prettiest to look at, leather has a rip int he seat, stereo doesn't work that great. But I got it for $2,300.

I'll post pics when I pick it up tomorrow, it is hard to drive two cars at once :)

Grats!!!

A Miata will put a smile on your face every time you drive it.

People who hate on the Miata have either never driven one, or are simply ignorant.

...the largest road-racing class in the U.S. is the SCCA’s Spec Miata class, with nearly 1,500 first- and second-generation Miatas tearing up America’s racetracks, making it the most-raced production car in the world.
