Would you buy this car as a Fixer Upper?

Might have some cocaine stashed in hidden compartments which he can make a huge profit from 😀

I wouldn't buy that thing, but I'm no car expert. Look like alot of damage to the frame

Sh!t, if you had pointed it out a day or two ago, I would have drove over there and looked at it in person and taken pictures of it for you. It's a short drive away for me.

I would never buy it sight unseen, I'd fly there and check it out in person with a mechanic.

Before doing that I would order a carfax report.

it will cost more to fix it than the car is worth. Its got over 90000 miles so in good condition you might be looking at a $20,000 car. There is some frame damage towards the front, that A-piller has got to be bent. side pillar in between both doors is bent. Like others have said, the trunk being shifted isn't a good sign either. The cost to relplace that side airbag will be a few bucks too.

What's the point of a carfax report? You KNOW that it's been in a major accident!

I think the damage is more substantial than the eBay auction indicates.

Let's say I waste my time and money to fly there assuming there was "light damage" BUT in reality the car has MAJOR damage, that $20 report would save me a lot of time and money.

Guessing by the salvage title, I would say the damage is slightly more than "light"

Yeah, I would avoid that car like the plague. Assuming your co-worker is thinking or restoring it to newish condition he is going to be sinking a LOT of money into a car with 90k miles. And the salvage title means he will never be able to sell it for much. As an example of how expensive body work can be I once smashed up the front of a '97 Acura. That came close to 9k to fix it. This car looks like it needs quite abit more then that.

Even if he could get it fixed for a price that added to what he pays for it comes in under retail he is still gonna get screwed with the salvage title.
