Would you buy a Refurb??

COMPAQ A916nr Pentium Dual-Core Mobile Processor T2330, 2GB RAM, 160GB, 17.0" WXGA+ Widescreen Display

I like the looks of this since I only use my laptop next to my tv chair...it never moves.

The refurb scares me though.....

i bought a Toshiba Qosmio a while back and t works flawlessly

Refurb is pretty much anything from a loose key to faulty mobo - which are replaced/restored by the Manufacturer so ya, it sounds a bit scary but if you are on budget and wants more bang for your bucks i guess you would take 'a box of chocolate' then again, i would take a box of chocolate from the HP DV series or Dell Mxxx series or Lenovo T series over Compaq's even though they are HP-Compaq... it could be just me though.
