Would you buy a house in Cali right now if you had the money?

If you had, say, 250,000 down, and could make around 4500 monthly towards the mortgage, would you buy a 1.1 mil house? (figure a sub 5% interest only jumbo 5 year ARM with no points)

Or would you sit on the money for a bit? Why?

Yes, and I'm quite confident that in half a year, the house will appreciate (if not sooner).

The difference between me and these other chuckleheads is this is actually a decision I'm facing.

If you have the money, go for it.

how can you buy low sell high when it doesn't go low?

No, we don't need any more people!

I live in Redondo now. I would be buying in Redondo/Hermosa.

Kewl -- I used to live in North Redondo. It's expensive in South Redondo and Hermosa Beach! I'd buy a house in PV, though. :)

yes, because as we all know, the state line is exactly where the state would split

There's new development in Fontana. Seems like anyone who wants to settle is moving there, especially when there's a new mall there called Victoria Gardens (super nice!!). I hope the place will become heavily commercialized, and with an airport (wishful thinking) soon. It used to be that Fontatana was the eatery stop of sorts before you hit the road out of So. California.

That'll hopefully ease things up a bit. I'm guessing prices of home will dip in the next couple of years. I'd wait a bit until I buy a house. Then again, I'm only a college student, so it'll be awhile before I can own my own place to call home.

Yes, if I could afford a $1.1 million house, I'd buy this place and while you guys were freezing your asses off in North Dakota or wherever you moved to save your $1.1 million, so you could buy a giant screen plasma TV to watch when there's 6 feet of snow and you can't leave the house, I'll be outside taking a walk on the beach in the sun in one of the nicest places on the planet.

What's the point of having $1.1 million if you're not gonig to use it for something you enjoy? I'd much rather have the house on the california coast than a house in the middle of nowhere and a fast car and a bunch of electronic crap.

huh? tidal waves?

If Cali splits due to a earthquake, Cali can form it's own country! That will be awesome. No more Bush! Yay.
