Would you believe in God if...

It is proven that consciousness is a fundamental feature of reality, like space-time, gravity, mass, charge etc? This would mean that consciousness came first and was here from the start, something being seriously considered by people who aren't crackpots in today's scientific studies of consciousness.
Consciousness existing before biological life would go against the materialist world view directly.

"God" is ambiguous. Certain concepts can be reconciled, and others could not.

Regardless, the problem of panpsychism is the problem of solipsism -- empirically intractable.

And how could we prove consciousness existed before life?😕:colbert::whiste:

In any case I always said if I win the lottery that would be proof enough that there is no God. 😛

What are these ideas about consciousness being considered by non-crackpot scientists? Where can I read some of them?

What if the one try God ends up as being Ganesha or Amaterasu? Then what are you going to do. :colbert:

Actually Ganesha would be pretty cool.

god would need to be defined.
If the definition of god was "something that has consciousness but no organic body", then sure. If the definition of god was "magic sky wizard responsible for creating all of the universe", then no, I am not able to suspend my disbelief in something so entirely implausible and unrealistic to believe in such a fantasy.

I'll believe in god the moment he/she/it shows up and eliminates all the people who claim to speak for him/her/it, but don't have any official connection.

I'm starting to think that (1), Moonbogg is actually a religious person masquerading as an atheist/agnostic, (2) trolling with all these God/Creation threads as of late, or (3), actually does or wants to believe in God but isn't brave enough to come outright and admit it.

I'm pretty confident he falls into one or more of these categories.

Depends, could he still justify me killing others who disagree?

Seems his power gets pretty centralized to justify horrible shit.

Doesn't take belief in god to be a decent person, so belief in him appears to only be a requisite to perpetuate monstrously horrible shit on others.

Possible. It's also possible that he's simply interested in topics concerning religion or spirituality. I mean, I like talking about space travel but I'm not nor have I ever been an astronaut.

It's also possible that you posted that as some kind of a "gotcha" game; wanting to, at least in your mind, expose atheists/agnostics as "believers".

I should have put some kind of emoticon 🙂P) to indicate that I wasn't serious.

lol, even if that were true, exposing one atheist/agnostic as a believer still doesn't mean that atheists/agnostics are believers.
