would you be mad if a sales guy ditched you to help

at this point answer the poll, then read on...

i doubt anyone would like that, yet some people think that a sales guy should ditch their customer to help out said person. then when the sales guy says he is busy with another customer they get mad and complain about the rude salesmen and crappy service😕

If I was just browsing and had no intention of buying anything, then I would have no problem if the sales guy went to help another customer.

A big regular customer comes through the door & asks for me it would be very difficult to put someone else on hold but I would. My job would depend on it.

If it happend to me I'd get fustrated & angry, but not mad. Mad is when you get very red, & start to curse while making fanatical hand gestures.

im talking about general people you've never seen before, in a typical retail store

One generic customer to another I wouldn't. If he/she looks like they're about to leave the store out out of fustration, I'll ask them to wait just a sec. & try to wrap it up with the first person. Or I could direct to check out product x & I'll get right back to them.

Not if I don't really need his help, or the other person looks like they're ready to blow a gasket. If the salesperson asks me whether I'd mind waiting a moment, I'd tell him to go take care of the other guy, in any case.

I once went in to an Oreck store just for shlts & giggles. The sale's gal was busy with some guy while I was looking. I was about to walk out, and she asked if she could help. I said I just wanted to hear the price of the unit in front of me. She told me, and her customer said, "I'm still here!" What a piece of work. About what I'd expect from somebody stupid enough to pay what they want for their POS vacuums. 😀

from what i over heard, sounds like they wanted help buying a computer, but our sales guys were busy with other customers looking at computers (they aren't really the fastest thing to explain to people that no nothing about them)

Well, if it was Best Buy, the sales person would probably have been giving me wrong information anyway... so I'd be thrilled if he diteched me. But I do all my research online and only head to the store when I'm ready to make a purchase so I voted that I don't usually ask for help.

I have to deal with people like this every day

Too impatient to wait for help, & when you do get to helping them, they are morons who can't even tell me what they want to use the PC for, so i can at least have a vague idea of what to recommend.

I seriously hate the general buying computer public, not because they are dumb, but because when you attempt to help them, they expect you to read their minds

/hates his job some days...

Yeah, I'd be perturbed.

We had our waiter ignore us to wait on a much larger group of people at the next table.
The busboy brought out our dinner to us (we both ordered surf&turf for our anniversary and a nice bottle of wine)
Waiter never even asked how our meal was.

$100+ dinner and the waiter couldn't be bothered to bring it to us or to ask us how it was. He wanted a big tip from the college parents - - people who weren't long term repeat customers. (bad move)

Unfortunately for the waiter, the reason we were able to get reservations that very busy night for a window seat (incredible view from a high elevation) was that my wife talked to the owner on an almost daily basis. Ooops. Waiter was fired.

after looking at the poll and seeing peoples responses... why do people expect you to drop a customer to help them?

thats what im getting at

I do that fairly often... usually it's because I've watched for a minute, and it's obvious they're going to be busy with the customer for several more minutes. Generally, I only have a quick question for the salesperson and politely interupt with "Excuse me for just a moment, can you point or tell me where in the store ***** is located? Thanks"

Oh, and for what it's worth, I think that in some instances, the salesperson was glad he was interupted and was looking for a break to get away from that particular customer. There are a lot of customers who will waste 20 minutes of a salesman's time, getting all the "research" done that they need, then will go to another store like Walmart to actually purchase the item. Sometimes salespeople sense when someone is wasting their time and don't actually intend to buy.

most of the time this is a bad thing though (not in your case)

but A LOT of customers will say, "excuse me i have just a quick question" me: "ok" them: "i have no idea what laptop i want to buy and i have no idea what ill be using it for, what one should i get, i also want the best one there is, but i hope its really cheap too"

yeah really quick huh
