any $200 jeans?

Depends on what I'm looking for. I don't shop there regularly, but I have no qualms about walking in, browsing and buying something I find that I like.

I almost always go to goodwill first If I just need some piece of junk furniture for a project.

Years ago, I found an Epson Stylus Photo 2200 at Goodwill for $15.

I cleaned the rollers and it works perfectly to this day.

The only trouble was I had to hide it whenever friends came by, for fear they'd ask where I got it.

well, i personally wouldnt buy clothes from thrift stores (too lazy to check their stock for my size) but i would buy other things there. (furniture?)

someone i know who makes quite a load of $ shops there as well. it's not a matter of being poor, it's a matter of being cheap.

I use to be 'ashamed' about shopping at Wal-mart. It's now one of my favorite stores. Goodwill might be pushing it a bit, but no, if I had to, who cares. I want the 'shamers' to pay me to shop elsewhere then.

We donate a lot of items annually to Goodwill and I stop in there regularly to check out their used book section. Our local community is affluent, so you usually have a wide assortment of recent best-sellers and the like. Also, Goodwill has their super book sale annually where they literally take over the free open spaces in a mall (Northlake Mall in Atlanta sponsored this in years past) and put out literally hundreds of thousands of books for sale. Back in college, we'd volunteer to put out books and we picked up a lot of good ones.

I must have purchased on the order of 500-600 books from Goodwill during my lifetime.

Never shopped there, and I wouldn't feel right doing it. IMO goodwill is made for people who can't afford regular stuff, and if there is anything good there I'd save it for them.

Goodwill is made to give the disabled jobs. The items they sell are not meant for any one socioeconomic group.

Thrift shops are the original recycling (and yet, you'll never find a carbon credit buying elitist liberal in one).

I'm a tree hugging liberal and I love thrift shops, yard sales and any other place where
I might find good stuff, cheap:)

I donated 3 boxes full of old textbooks that alot of people out there can still use, such as basic algebra/math, english and intro business classes. im going to go back tomorrow to donate some and old TV and some electronics too.

man i could imagine finding some gems in the electronics section. imagine someone's wife donating their husband's stereo's that could be something worthwhile!!!

I wouldn't be embarrassed. I chose not to pursue a life path that leads to a high income, as a result I need to be frugal with my spending. Nothing to be ashamed of, I can go to law school and get out and buy myself a Lexus but that isn't something I'm interested in.

My wife and I just gave them a ton of "old" clothes, mostly Gap, AE, and other name brands. Nothing wrong with the stuff, no stains, rips or anything, just wanted more space for new stuff and wasn't about to CL it or throw it away.
Somebody will be getting a bargain!

I grew up in a high-middle class family, and we always bought name-brand clothes...but ever since coming to college (junior now), I find places like the Dollar Store, Goodwill, etc to be amazing. No, im not embarrassed, especially when you can find some insanely good deals every once in awhile.

I buy all of my dress shirts at a thrift store. Guy buys nice shirt, dies, wife takes it to thrift store, I buy it, wear it, wear it out, repeat. As long as men keep dying, I'll have cheap, nice shirts. Everybody wins.
