I believe they have all the men they need. (They got a huge influx right after 9/11) I don't think it's right to use those images but thats just my two cents

old time military was great

Just saw a navy commercial. The ending said something to the effect "and all those who threaten it."

Its starting as we speak.

i felt patriotic after 9/11 too.. but i decided to finish school first.. i might still join the airforce after i'm done with school, but only because i think it might help with my dreams of working at NASA

edit: i don't think i'd have a problem if they used those images..

That's not true. There was a huge jump in the number of inquiries, there was not a huge jump in the number of enlistments. No I don't think they should be using those images. Profiting on tragedies is despicable no matter who's doing it.

I don't really think of this as "profitting"... a good number of current military actions are directly influenced by the action that would be displayed in the pictures. Would you be offended if they used pictures of Pearl Harbor to attract soldiers for WWII? I know I wouldn't be. I would never join the military personally, but pictures from 9/11 show what could happen if nobody were to enlist...

Dave, I don't know about the Navy, but the Army, for the first time in MANY years met it's end strength goals BEFORE the fiscal year even ended.

I've thought about enlisting.. mostly due to the fact that paying for college is going to suck since I'll have to get loans from everywhere.. The Army's pitch was pretty damn good too.

A friend of mine enlisted with the Air Force, but he won't be doing anything till Feb/March of next year..

I tried to enlist. I found out that I wasn't eligible (damaged hip) on 9/10/01.

It was kind of freaky.

As for enlistments, they should use 9/11, but subtly. Don't mention the actual events, but talk about American strength and determination, etc.

So did we, however it was due to a couple of things. 1. An ~80% 1st term reenlistment rate. This was caused by a bad economy and the war. This, of course, caused the the recruiting goals to be lowered.2. Recruiting was up over last year, again probably mostly due to the economy. 3. Our recruiting goals had already been lowered from last year and years past because we are reducing manpower across the board (drawdown).
