Would you advise me against linking up a checking account I have with my paypal account?

Any harm in doing so?

I'm out of the 'i hate paypal' or 'paypal screwed me' loop.

I had mine linked and undid it a while ago after hearing about accounts being tapped into because the haxors found out user id's and passwords.

Granted that was because of idiotic users that went to one of those fake paypal sites and entered their info, but I figure better safe than sorry.

Call me paranoid! :)

Seems like a good idea.

Do banks usually charge a fee for this type of service?

A lot of banks are offering free checking accounts with no min. balances or fees. I found one that gives you a check/atm card and does not even require you to initially purchase checks (PNC Bank). I have linked this to paypal and will use it for other things of this sort. Kind of extreme, but I feel safe as it only has the 5.00 I put in to open it.

I am with BofA too.

Paypal doesn't charge anything for the transfer right? I saw that on their site.

No transfer fees. What I did was set up another checking account (was free, and no minimum balance) and register it with paypal. When I get funds into paypal I turn right around and transfer it to that checking account. I think call the bank and have them move the money from that checking account to my normal one. That way if there were anything to go wrong they wouldn't be able to dip into a real account...just something with a few cents in it.

I would advise against linking it to your main checking acct.
Open one up just for paypal and keep a minimum amount of cash in it.
