If i buy a 6800gt and have a xp2500 on a nforce 2 mb, would the cpu be a bottleneck or hender the 6800gt? Should i get a a64 3400 too?

It certainly wouldn't hurt, but I don't think it will really kill the performance of the card with an xp processor.

yes, it will bottleneck it. check the AT article on D3, and cpu bottlenecking.

13-21% improvement between 2.4 and 3.2, depending on the vid card and game settings (resolution and quality). Seems like you (we) will be fine because the low end is above 50 FPS.

Got a Barton, ya? Overclockable mobo?

I have a 2500 Barton aswell, on an MSI K7N2G series ultra 400. With an MSI 9800pro. But i was just wondering if that was a good mobo to have cuz everyone else with Barton's has either an Asus or Abit, haven't seen many MSI's. Any insight???

I read the report on CPU Modder (the magazine) and I didn't notice a huge jump in points on 3DMark2k3 with the same specs except different mobos from ASUS, ABIT, Gigabyte, and AsRock (a noname brand). Maybe about 10 points apart?
