Would using something like the Icy Dock negatively affect performance?

What I mean is, would having a middleman between the SSD and the motherboard, namely the Icy Dock's little chip that the SSD plugs into, in any way negatively affect performance? Should I bother with using it or just use my SSD without it? I got it for free with an OEM X25-M 80GB when newegg had the deal, decided I'd rather have this dock thing then the little mounting rack that comes with the retail package, but now I'm wondering if I should just sell it and stick my SSD in naked.

No. I also got one of those Icy Docks free with my X25-M G2 and it performs as it should.

I haven't, but it scores around 410-420 on the AS SSD benchmark with the dock, which is right where it should.

Ah.

I'd still like to see a comparison though, just to see if it even loses 5% of total performance, but thanks, you've put me at ease.

I've used ICYDOCK SATA products before and never noticed any degradation between direct motherboard connection and the dock. FWIW

Alright, good to know.

What about temps? I know the dock is ventilated and all that, but I'm wondering if it reduces the airflow to the drive compared to having it out in the open like on a mounting rack (or even just lying around in the case).
