Would using a knife to kill a pest animal (ex. a skunk) be consider animal cruelty?

Lets say you don't mind getting sprayed. Would you use a knife to end the skunk's life?

What other method would you employ?

I know that shooting it with a shotgun is not cruel. The law says so.

I'm guessing a quick chop with a knife shouldn't be cruel either. I mean that's how they kill cows and chickens and stuff.

They kill cows with an electrified bolt gun to the head, not by stabbing them.

And chickens are conveyored into a large tank of water until they quit flapping!

I've killed a porcupine with a big machete after it got tangled up with my dogs. Do what you gotta do! Although I wouldn't get too close to a skunk unless you want to smell REALLY bad for a long time.

EDIT: Are you just knifing a skunk for the fun of it? If that's the case, you should go after an animal that's a little more interesting, say, a wolverine!

And/or get rabies

that fact that you are willing to get sprayed by a skunk in order for a chance to knife it shows that you are going to enjoy this. And thus you aren't killing out of necessity, but for pleasure, which puts it in the cruelty zone in my book.

but seriously, you'd be willing to get sprayed by a skunk?
