I have a thermalright xp-90 with 92 mm fan spinning about 2000 RPM cooling my X2.

I am thinking about getting a Zalman cnps 9500 am2 cooler, but would like to know if it actually cools any better?

Thanks for any input.

honestly, it wouldnt be worth it unless you could get that zalman cheap.

You should look at something better, like a Tuniq Tower, TR Ultra120.

Yeah, I surmised as much. I was going to return something at Compusa, so I was looking for something to buy in exchange. I am also considering the Cooler Master CM 690 case (with some extra fans). Decisions, decisions.

personally I have usd all those heatsinks and own them all still!!

I have found that when you get into the rarified air of the Tuniq and the TR 120 or SI 120 or Ultra 120 that the differences betwen them and the zalman 9500 at the 9700 ( which i also own) are not that great!!

I happen to favor the TR SI120 and the Zalman 9700 over the rest of the pack!!
But mind you I also think the Zalman 9500 and 9700 are works of art!!

So go figure!!

I wasn't too happy with my CNPS9500 myself. It performed OK, but what really got me mad was I spent $60-ish on it then only a year later the fan bearings were getting buzzy and raspy. Right after the 1 year warranty was up too. If I spend that much on the stupid thing I expect it to last longer than a year!

So I went water. I haven't looked back ;)

My Zalman CNPS9500's fan did the same thing after about 8 months, so I got a replacement from Zalman under warranty for free ... if your warranty is expired however you can purchase a replacement fan for about $9 here.
