getting a new mobo, cpu, and case , if i wanted to use the same hard drive, and just hook it up , would it load up normally ? or would i need a new hard drive and reinstall the os ?
The new mobo/cpu MIGHT load up but chances are slim. The easiest way to do this would be to reformat your hard drive and do a fresh install of your operating system. Some people have gotten away with uninstalling/reinstalling device drivers but that is hit or miss.
It depends on the exact situation, but even then it's not a guarantee. Don't count on it, although I've had luck with not having to reformat when switching boards lately
I did this before when I changed my 939 A64/DDR1 mobo/cpu/RAM to what I have now. I used sysprep, and it worked fine. There was a post somewhere on these forums with good instructions, but you should be able to find plenty of info on other sites too.
