I was reading an article in time magazine how doctors can't afford malpractice insurance. Could you start a practice with the top 5 or 6 doctors in the US, charge an assload less than normal practices and when people sign up they waive their right to sue? Then you don't need malpractice insurance and they have a sense of security because they know that they're getting the best doctors that you could find....

Who the hell would pay an 'assload' to go to doctors that you have to waive your rights to?

If anything, doctors that you waive your rights to would be cheaper, since they don't need to pay obscene amounts for insurance.
 
An assload LESS. Not more. It would be way cheaper. You're not really waving your rights, just your right to sue for malpractice.

Yep, i'm sure some people would do it... that is if the law allows doctors to practice without insurance (which they're probably not allowed to).
 
I know I would if I had a guarentee that the doctors would:
1) Fix whatever they screwed up on, if possible or
2) Take care of me a greatly reduced cost if they couldn't fix it but I needed persistant medical care afterward.

I may be nice...but I'm not that nice.

It'd be greatly reduced because they'd make the same amount only they wouldn't factor in the cost of malpractice insurance. They'd also be able to provide you the best care possible without worrying about being sued. You'd also get the best medical care because if someone did this they'd get the most reputable doctors.
