My infiniti has a OEM IPOD add on unit installed. This is a aux input but the harness is ONLY IPOD adapter. So i can only use an item with the larger traditional plug, like ipod video, itouch and iphones NOT the smaller guys or a ZUNE or 3.5mm

I dont know how the audio reads out but it does thru the plug and its able to be controlled via my headunit. Once plugged in i'm not longer allowed to use the ipod on its screen, just my headunit now.

I now dont own an iphone and dont care for ipods as i use my android phone. Would that adapter allow me to play audio via 3.5mm jack thru my car? I think it should work but dont want to spend the money if it doesn't.

That should work as there are definitely analog audio signals in the dock connector.

Just an FYI - there is a difference in sound quality doing this. Depending on who is listening, it may not even be noticeable, but the signal from an ipod dock is cleaner than a signal from a headphone jack.
