Would this upgrade be worth it?

I've had a P4 2.8C @ 3.45 on an Asus P4C800E - deluxe now for going on a year and a half and it's run fine. 3DM2K1 = 21,600+, 3DM2K3 = 13,300+, 3DM2K5 = 5,300+, Aquamark = 71,500+ for examples but I'm dyin' to go back to AMD and try a 3200+ Winchester on an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. I'm going to hold off for a few months before going PCIE (definitely N4 SLI) so I can still use the rest of my hardware ( 6800 Ultra and a gig of OZC pc3700 Gold rev.3). I was just wondering if it'd be worth a mb/cpu combo change. Any thoughts?

Not now. Maybe in 1 year's time.

With a card like yours, I presume you play at high resolutions with AA/AF enabled. In that case even going to FX55 won't improve your gaming.

It'd be better for you to upgrade to Nforce 4 and sli later on just in time for R500/NV50. By then faster processors will be available to take advantage of the newer cards and Nforce 4 will probably undergo at least 1 revision for bug fixes.

Right now your cpu is plenty fast and at high resolutions you are going to be 99% bound by the videocard.

Agreed. You'd get better performance now, but the cost vs. the increased performance would be very difficult to justify. Especially because you'd have to get a new vid card. Your AGP won't work on PCIe. That's $400-550 just to use the card you already have!

Since ur goin NF4/PCI-E soon , i dont see the upgrade to NF3 as anything but a waste of money, the perfromance wouldnt be good enough to warrant the short lived period of the upgrade.
