Would this trade be worth it?

Hello all,I was looking to trade my laptop for a desktop as my fps arent the best during most games i play even with the settings very low.Im assuming it because of the weak processor I have and upgrading the processor would be very costly and I cant afford it,heres my laptops specs.

Processor: Intel Core i5 CPU M 540 @ 2.53GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz
4 gb ram
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850
display:1600 x 900 (32 bit) (60Hz)

And here is a desktop I was offered

Asus m4a88td-v evo /usb3 mobo
Amd phenom II 965 quad cpu
Corsair h50 cooler
8gb corsair ddr3 ram
2 nvidia gtx260 gpus in sli
1tb 6gb sata3 hard drive

Would this be a fair trade or would i be better off just upgrading my processor and spending some more money?

Not worth it imo. That desktop has a weaker processor and the gtx 260 sli doesn't often enough gaming performance to justify it. Not to mention you lose portability and your power consumption will be through the roof. Sell the laptop and build a much better system yourself with the money.

That deal is HORRIBLE
1) AMD Quad core against an Intel quad core, intel winds
2) SLI 260s? WOW thats older than your 5850
3) only need 4gb ram for gaming

Well, a Mobility 5850 is really an underclocked 5770, so the GTX 260 SLI would likely be faster. However, I'm with mnewsham overall.

Besides dropping down settings, have you tried running at a lower screen resolution?

At 1024 x 768 you might be able to use better settings than at 16x9, while getting better frame rates.

The desktop would be about 70% faster than the laptop with games.

AMd x4 965 @ 3.4 will at least = a Core i 5 @ 2.5 and will overclock to at least 3.8 with the H50 cooler.
The 2, 260gtx videocards are about 2x faster than the 5850 mobile.
There is double the memory in the desktop
double the harddrive space in the desktop.

Do you have a monitor?, because so far I would go for the desktop without question for gaming.
