Would this piss you off?

So, I rarely read what movie critics have to say. I base my wanting to see a flick on friends opinions, what I read online (forums like this for example) and just whether or not I like the previews.

Anyway, I really want to see I Am Legend for some reason. I'm not sure why, but I've been excited about this movie since I saw the first teaser trailer awhile back.

Anyway, on MSN.com this morn there's a link to this twits take on the movie.....'I Am Dumbass Movie Critic'

Now, the part that "grinds my gears" is (POSSIBLE SPOILER) the part where he tells you that Will Smiths character finds a woman and a boy and that he also has to put his dog down at some point in the movie.

I understand this movie is based on some book, and whether those parts are in the book or not I do not know, but the important part to me is that I didn't know these fucking things. More importantly they are things I'd consider parts of the movie I'd rather not know until I WATCHED THE FUCKING MOVIE.

I understand he's not giving away the ending (or hell, maybe he did) but am I wrong for hating this asshole Todd McCarthy now? Is it the norm for movie critics to give away such points of a movie in writing up their ego feeding fact (I mean opinion) of the film?

Cliffs

- Todd McCarthy is a douche in my book

No that wouldn't piss me off, what would is if he told me that Smith dies at the end of the movie.

Because the leader of the bad guys throws a spear off the balcony while hes trying to get away, and the spear hits him in the chest knocking him into a fountain?!

Yeah, that would piss me off too.

Watch Omega Man. You'll most likely have a good idea how it plays out.

It never ceases to amaze me how people get pissed off by such little things, especially like spoilers from a remake of a movie. I mean, its not like Han shoots first is it?

I've never seen the other films, nor have I read the book. You're missing the point. If you can't understand why someone would be put off by knowing certain parts of a movie that he didn't want to know before he saw it then you must be one passive motherfucker

Doesn't matter because the movie is not that great at all. I saw it Tuesday after winning tickets to see it. I thought this movie would rule too.

***SPOILER*****

This movie is full of product placement. He drives a Mustang at the start of the movie...but we never see (or hear of it) it again...

He has a Mac book that takes up half the dam screen everytime he uses it.

I love how he mentions canned pink salmon and the scene where he cooks.....good lord!

I do not understand how the dogs got to kill his dog and attack him, but the zombies just sit back and watch.

Do we really need to see Will Smiths built body for a full 30 seconds as he works out?

Also, the ending was so rushed.

The movie did not know what it wanted to be. It was not a thriller, it was not an action movie, it was not a comedy, yet it tried to be all of them.

Actually that makes me happy to know that it's at least somewhat faithful to the book in those regards.

I don't have high hopes for it though.

The mustang was a nod to Omega Man, Heston drives one near the beginning which he took from a dealership (sticker still on in the new movie).

Yes... a critic should go out of their way not to reveal plot details that are "surprising".

Too bad they still haven't made a movie based on the book I am Legend that is anywhere near faithful to the source material

While I knew the plot because of watching The Omega Man, I agree that reviewers shouldn't be giving away potential spoilers.

There is a ton of product placement though. I watched the three-minute bit they have posted over at Ain't It Cool News and the entire sequence is plastered with it worse than Transformers ever was.

Transformers was pretty much one very long GM commercial :D

I've seen Omega Man, "loved" most of it.

As for question: Yes, they are spoilers, but not sure if they would piss me off. Then again, I'm used to not going to theatres, so already watch most movies having read spoilers.

Sounds just like I, Robot. Replace robots with zombies, shower scene with workout scene, happy ending with sad one, and Audi with Apple/Ford, voila! You've just turned I, Robot into I Am Legend. I just saw it, I thought it sucked ass.

And he was driving a Ford SUV when he wasn't in his GTO.

Not to mention the woman was in a Ford as well, and when she showed up in Vermont after driving all day the car looked like it was just ran through a detailing shop. (Which it probably was.)

Regarding the review and spoilers, yes I hate it when they do that. It started for me back when I heard "...and meanwhile, Bruce Willis' character was dead the whole time...".

Reviews are fine, a synopsis is NOT fine.
