Would this perform better than a 7800GTX?

Just curious. It has 32 pipelines and 512MB of ram so I suppose theoretically, it should perform better than the 24 pipeline 256MB 7800GTX. Right? It gets just under 10,000 in 3Dmark 05, doesn't the 7800GTX get 7800? If this is true, then this would be more powerful than the 7800GTX. Of course, you can't SLI two of theese.

For the most part, no.

This card is a 6800GT SLI on one board. It's a good card, but no better than a 6800GT SLI.

Doesn't having the two processors on the same card increase performance though? It doesn't have to go through a chipset or SLI bridge so don't you think it would make it faster than 2 6800GT's in SLI?

There is nothing wrong with a 6800GT SLI rig. The fact that a 7800GTX is a better value for someone buying one or the other does not negate the value of 6800GT SLI.

6800GT SLI has the stones to run at the limits of most monitors on the planet and above.

Well, now that the 7800GTX is out and can be had for $500, it does negate the idea of building a 6800GT SLI setup, because that would be more expensive and performs worse overall, not to mention the power and heat issues. But if you already have a\one 6800GT and a SLI mobo, it might make sense to get another 6800GT for SLI, as it would be cheaper then upgrading to 7800 GTX (depending how much you can sell the 6800GT for). Before 7800 line was introduced, 6800GT SLI was in fact a good option for the extreme high end - performance was very close to 6800U SLI and it was cheaper. But now it is definetly lost its value. SLI is always good value only for the extreme high - using 2 highest end cards together.

Worst SLI in history = 2x6800NU some people paid 2x$350 for it just a couple of months before a single X800XL was available for $250 with MUCH better performance.
