if a manufacturer say, dell,

you buy a 2405fp.

then 6 months later

your friend gets one. and you notice his performs better than yours, and you test your panels on both your machines and a third one and confirm the results

would you be pissed? (not only cause your friend got a better deal on his since he bought it later 😉)

is this false advertising?

Yes I would be upset. But also realize technology moves fast and your purchase price does not include free upgrades.

Well, it is possibly because of firmware upgrades. They happen oftentimes, without changes to the physical appearance to the product.

For example, D-Link's DBT120 has 3 hardware revisions, and although it just looks like a USB plug, you'd think they'd have changed the stickes on the thing, but I think they only changed the stickers on the last revision.

😕?
I am.

Did you even notice your one was below par before comparing them? Why would you be pissed if you were already happy with the quality of your monitor?

Why should I be upset? Should they not try to improve their product? If they had changed the model number, you wouldn't even care. Why should it be any different just because they DIDN'T change the model number.

How? Didn't you get what you paid for? Like Neurorelay said, you don't get free upgrades.

That's why you should never buy the first year model of something when it first comes out. Wait until the product has matured a bit.
