@ 1900x1080 It will be fine

Q9650 will be a good 20% slower at 1920x1080 over i7 processors @ 3.3ghz: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/cpus-and-games-2010_12.html#sect0

Depending on the games you play, even at 4AA/16AF, you may be just as well with a GTX470 or 5870. If you will use heavy AA like 8AA then GTX480 will be faster though. Remember 5870 is not going to be bottlenecked as heavily by Q9650 so that 20% performance advantage of GTX480 over 5870 will be a lot less with a C2Q processor. I say overclock the Q9650 to 3.8ghz and then you can get a GTX480.

But trust me, Q9650 is nowhere near as fast as Core i7 processors in the latest games, EVEN at 4AA/16AF and 1920x1080: http://www.gamespot.com/features/6261472/p-5.html

Yeah my max res is 1920x1080. I usually play BFBC2 at max settings.

Believe me, a q9650 will play all games just fine with a gtx 480. It might be a little slower then a core i7 but it will be just fine.

Splinter cell game just sucks ass with any system.

Don`t listen to these guys. It`s barely any bottleneck. That`s like saying I`m starving my 5870 @ 1080 with my slightly overclocked 9550. An i7 doesn`t give a big enough benefit over the Q9xxx processors to be worth spending $400-$500 more for a few more frames. It`s not a huge difference to upgrade. Just overclock your 9650 and you`ll be fine.

yeah it will be a slight bottleneck but really a small oc on that cpu would eliminate it for almost any gaming situation. just put your Q9650 at 3.6 or so and you will have a very balanced system. only in a few games like GTA 4 would the i7/i5 quads have a small advantage over a lightly overclocked Q9650. and btw I hope you do have 4gb of ram in there.
