I would avoid motherboards with onboard video like the plague... that's my personal opinion though.

Depends what kind of games???

BUT, the KM400 video is more for movies, dvd's, etc... it has a built in decoder. Also I think Biostars KM400 board is the best KM400 board, uses the newwer southbridge

Now if you want onboard video and do a LITTLE gaming then you need to get a nForce2 board with onboard video. You will also need 2 matched slabs of ram to help the video work best for games.

True but I like to know those who have used it and wonder if its fast enough for gaming...
Not super fast but much faster then other onboard mobo such as biostar m7vkq?
Since abit make quality mobo I trust them to make decent onboard video as well.

I think biostar is the worst mobo next to pcchips, used it (m7vkq)and the onboard vga crapped out on me. LOL... dead vga, and I threw it away because I cannot even change or lower cpu voltage on duron since it run too hot at 1.75v def.

I am an overclocker frenzy and anything less feature then abit is a no no.
Plus I love onboard component all-in-1 solution LOL.

My opinion: get a Shuttle MN31N and two memory modules like Marlin1975 says, and you'll be running at nearly GeForce4 MX440 levels, particularly if you watch nForcersHQ.com for the IGP OC'ing guide that DAPUNISHER said is going up tomorrow 😎 Personally, I've played UT2003 Demo at 800 x 600 on the integrated graphics of the old nForce 220D, with single-channel memory, and the nForce2 solution would give you two to three times that level of gaming performance, so you should be able to run 800 x 600 pretty nicely in most games, with the eye candy in moderation.

Abit does make quality mobos, but they have nothing to do with on-board videos. They just buy the chips from companies like nVidia for IGP solutions. How good the onboard video is depends on which chipset they put on the motherboard.

You haven't mentioned what kind of games would you be playing? In any case I would prefer a seperate video card 🙂

NF2 video is worthy of any game out there if you don't care for quality (there is a reason video cards sell for $200...it's not for anyone playing CS at 800x600)--on par with a GF4MX (just shy of GF4MX 440 with dual-channel PC3200).

Any NForce2 IGP board will do you just fine.
