would this be an upgrade?

it would be a really small upgrade going from the 6600GT to the 6800NU. do you currently have the 6600GT?

yeah i got the 6600gt about a month ago for my birthday
then i seen 6800 for a few more bucks
was thinking of getting the 6800 for my main computer and putting the 6600gt in my old comp

Performance wise it depends on what you do to see a boost. If you are trying to upgrade another PC and it is in the ballpark of an Athlon XP 2500+ or an Intel P4 2.6GHZ with 512 DDR then you would do very good on passing cards down. If it is slower than that then you might as well save your money and get something along the lines of a ATI 9600 128bit Meory based card like this : Saphire 9600

At low resolution, the 6600GT and 6800NU will perform about the same. But the 6800nu pulls ahead at higher resolutions.

Here's a Half Life 2 benchmark compare:
HL2 GPU round up

The 6800nu has 256bit RAM and 12ppl @ ~325/700
The 6600GT has 128bit RAM and 8ppl @ ~500/1000
The 6600gt makes up for its narrow RAM with higher clocks, but the 6800nu can be modded to 16ppl and overclocked to ~400/800 if you find the right card. I'd go with the 6800nu if I had money to burn. If I was on a budget, I stick with the 6600gt until next-gen cards come out.
