Would this be a solution to my problem?? (RMA maybe)

Little backgroud: I ran my Athlon XP 1700+ at stock speeds for about a week. I decided to overclock the next week and just adjusted the mutiplier, not the bus. It was very stable and I didn't have a single issue other than the heat that was generated. Well about 3 days ago I decided to up the bus to 166..... x 10. It ran great and my frames per second increased about 10 in BF1942. I was satisfied. This was all in an older case without a single case fan. Well my Lian-Li comes in (it has 4 case fans) and I moved my system over. I power it on and bam it doesn't get past the post. It showed processor and no ram and just sat there. I tried several more times and the same thing happened. Mind you it wouldn't power off either WITHOUT holding the power button for about 5 seconds. Well after about the 4th time, the video didn't come up. I was really confused now. So, I took the side off and reseated the video card and ram (which both were in firmly but I did it anyway). It booted up !!! I thought I had solved the problem. It ran fine the rest of the night. Well, yesterday I come home from work and boot it up, same thing, no video but I can hear the hard drive spinning. So, I tried a few times and wiggled a few cords and it booted up. I got worried that there is an issue and I have no clue how to solve it. I played some BF and ran a few apps and everything was ok. So, I install a new mouse and the software and it needs to reboot so I tried. I now have a new problem...it gets stuck at Windows Shutting Down (Windows XP Pro). So, I manually power it off and what do you know ??? No video. To make a long story short I went back into bios and ran the chip at stock speed and it works perfectly now.

SO.....does my new case with 4 fans require adjusting of any voltages? (My CPU temp never got over 57 by the way). I figured that with my Abit NF7-S and a 1700b I could have better luck overclocking. Could these be XP related? I hope someone out there has an idea, thanks.

I use 3dmark2001se which can be found from a link at the top of this o'c forum. In battlefield I just turn the fps on and watch it :)

Back to my problem. Since video doesn't come up at boot up and sometimes the HD light doesn't come on during bootup does that mean my AGP slot or board has a problem with 166 bus? Should I RMA? I mean this board should handle it no problem.

i don't think it's your board.

57 is... well.. for stock speed.. sort of high...

abit does report temps 5 to 10 degrees too high... but still 47 even for stock is pretty darn high...

you may consider getting better cooling... IMHO

57 was the overclocked temp after playing battlefield for about an hour, sorry left that out.

I am home from work so I might start messing with settings again. My main goal is about 2ghz stable and I will be happy.
