Would this be a noticeable upgrade?

As seen in my sig, I have a Barton XP @ 3200+, 1GB PC3200 RAM, and a 9800 Pro on a NF2 mobo (no PCI-E).

I can get a 6800GT AGP locally from someone for $200 (maybe I can talk him a little lower) or else I could possibly get:

EVGA 7800GT + EVGA NF4-Ultra mobo $370
Opt 146 (hopefully can overclock some on stock hsf), if can't find one in stick then Venice 3000/3200+ $180
FSP 450w PSU $60

That's $610.

I mean the Opty is prolly clocked lower than my current CPU? Normally I nearly double CPU speeds when I buy new things (went from 166 to 366@550mhz, then to 1.33ghz, then to current 2.2ghz). But would the above things really be worth $600 over my current system? Mostly I wanna be able to play games at 1680x1050 with a good amount of details. I can do now with some games but nothing new like BF2, Q4, etc

You will notice a very very good improvement, VERY GOOD.
And your focusing to much on CPU speed. A Skt 939 Opty at 1.8GHz is just as good as a XP 3200+, even more so espacially since youd be going from NF2 to NF4.........do the upgrade i strongly encourage it

But look at that. It's just as good, or a little more? That's a crap ton to spend just to have new stuff. Like I said I like having nearly double performance when I upgrade! I know the 7800GT would be much faster, but the rest of the rig is a necessity just to get that damn PCI-E.

Double performance in what category? Games? Your definitely gonna see a huge bump in peformance in that department because of the 7800GT, especially at the above mentioned resolution. But in other categories, I think it truly depends on how far you overclock that opty.

yes, but a new chipset/mobo isnt just for new interfaces........the NF4 itself will show a boost in preformance over the NF2........ and skt 939 will help the CPU gain a little more speed/edge over the Barton

The GT alone will double FPS in games
