Would there be any benefit in crossfiring an HD 4870 with an HD 7850/7870?

I'm looking to build a new system and an trying to figure out which graphics card I should get. My current GPU is an old HD 4870.

Would there be any benefit at all to crossfiring this with an HD 7850 or 7870, or is the 4870 so outdated that any crossfiring benefit would be completely neglible, and thus not worth bothering with?

If there is no significant benefit to crossfiring these, I might lean towards a GeForce instead, for instance the GTX 660, 760, 670 or 680.

You can't crossfire an HD4870 with an HD7000 series. You can only crossfire it with an HD4000 series card.

Officially that is..........technically you can Slifire an 8400GS with an HD7970 with Lucid hydra.
