I have a question

im looking at buying a sempron

and a gdi nforce 3 250gb mobo

but the sempron is it good at playing games
will it handle proccesses ok i know nothing about the sempron can someon fill me in on the info

Only if you get the Sempron based on the Althlon 64 architecture. I believe only the Sempron 3100 fits the bill. The 3100 performs slightly below the A64 2800 in gaming.

Better to go with a A64 2800+, if you're on a budget. Only $5 more for twice the L2 cache. (It's faster!
😉)

Its about 2-5% faster than the 3100. The 3100, however, overclocks very well. I am up to 2.5ghz on mine right now and I havent hit a wall yet. xbitlabs has a good article on the performance of an oc'ed sempron. Its worth a read.

semprons are fine, i game with a duron, dont listen to the CPU nazi's they have a jihad against wallets and will not stop until every dime has been spent.

unless you want MORE than enough FPS you are right, I used to game on a Celeron back in the day, it was awesome at the time. Nothing wrong with a Sempron or a Duron.

yes the a64 version is good. the lesser version is a xp tbred with inflated rating..about +400 from reality😛

I have a 3100+ Sempron and I am very happy with it. I was thinkin of the AMD Athlon 64 3000+ but the Sempron was way cheaper for very similar performance. For games the cpu is not too important as long as it is about 2ghz. Make sure you have lots of ram and a good vid card. I have 1gb ram and a x800pro 256mb vid card.......my system rocks for gaming!
