Yup, I totally know :D, though some movies are 16:9.

It comes down to Xbox 360, PS3 and ported games to PC, which are all 16:9. I don't like when the screen is stretched and I don't like when I have black bars while gaming.

Just an FYI...I just got my 46" Sharp Aquos, and I can disable the dynamic contrast thing no problem. In fact, there is even a "PC mode" as one of the picture presets that disables it for you. :)

Hopefully the smaller screens will have this feature as well.

I have my PC hooked up via HDMI, but it is possible to disable dynamic contrast on all of the inputs. GL.

None that I can tell.

I had to set it to 'stretch' mode to get the image to completely fill the screen which kinda baffled me. The TV is recognizing the signal as 1080P and the picture looks great so I'm not too worried, but still...

I'm gonna post some pics of the thing as soon as I can. I work in education so life is busy for me right now.

That thing should have 1:1 Pixel for pixel when using your PC instead of stretching it, you access that through your remote. I know the 32 does. tons of grats on your new beast. I hope you like it. I have my Desk all setup to accept my 32 incher, cords are all there, speakers set up in the right place. I am getting excited.

Thanks. :)

I figured it out; there was something in the Nvidia control panel that I needed to adjust.

When does your set arrive?

I have almost pulled the trigger on the 32D62U several times this week... Why haven't I? A few reason actually... 1) I have a feeling this set will drop in price quickly. 2) I am not sure moving from 768 to 1080 vertical lines of resolution is going to be THAT noticable... Not enough to spend $1,100 for it. 3) The new resolution will tax my GPU another 30-50% at least, and despite the higher resolution, it will STILL need AA. So, I am require to have a stronger rig to maintain smooth frame-rates. 4) I sit about 3' from my 768 display (30", BTW) and I do not notice the pixels. If I move to about 2.5 feet, I can see the pixels. But my sweet spot where I sit is 3' and it looks great.

Money is hard to come by now that I am married and have children. In addition to that, the older I get, the more difficult it is to spend such huge amounts of money on 'toys' that I really do not use all that much. It is almost as if I get the urge to upgrade just so I can say I have it! Not to brag, but just to know that I have it!

What is the last game I have played in the last 1 month? The BioShock demo... Yep, that is it. I have spent about 1 hour playing games the last month...

YAWN... Well, I still want to know how that display is! I am sure that the Sharp is clearly a much better display than my current one, but I am doubtful that it is $1,100 better :p

Don't bother upgrading (at least not for HDTV).

When I was at Best Buy looking for my TV, I was shocked to see that a 720P Toshiba set looked MUCH sharper than a 1080P Westinghouse set. I tweaked the Westy to no avail. My guess is that the HD feed was 720P, so the Toshiba ran it at native resolution which looked better. *shrug*

HD-DVDs and the like might look nicer in 1080P, but really, I find that regular DVDs look nice from 12' away on my 46" 1080P Aquos.

Just a few side notes to keep up with the thread.

I recently went to a brick and morter store and brought my laptop. I had Oblivion running at 1900x1080 and it was absolutely beautiful. I also ran Indesign, Word, publisher, Photoshop, all of them looked amazing. The size was impressive. I saw no contrast issues and I did not even have a chance to mess with the settings.

ALso, jsut so people know, I currently have a Samsung 244t. When i purchased it about a year ago it was $800 and its now $699 last i checked. But know this, I watch all my comcast cable with it and noraml channels look better then anything i have ever seen and Hidef channels look great as well. I do get black lines top and bottom, but i dont mind that. This will now be my secondary monitor.

Just to let everyone know. I bought the Sharp 32D62U http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16889101108. And I could not be happier. I studied a ton, found that there is really no difference between this and the model that is 200 dollars more. And I unpacked this thing, and never looked back. I dont have the dynamic contrast issue. red text (and only red text) on a black background kinda sucks, but who the hell cares, maybe you, not me, heh. Anyways, thanks for all the posts.

Good to know there are some decent options in the 28-32" size. Both the 24" and 30" are out for me because of the wife not happy with the small text for desktop use. I tried out the 37" Westy and while I did like it, I found the DPI to be a bit too high for my taste and the display to be a tad too big. I'm a long-time CRT user and it will take something very nice to get me to make the move. The 32" Sharp sounds like something that could push me over the edge one day when I can find the budget. Until then, my 22" Mitsu 2070sb will have to suffice. BTW, nice pics there, miahallen.

Glad you liked the pics, I am also a CRT convet. This being my first LCD, it was a tough decision. And There are still things I miss about my CRT (like black levels), but those thisngs are fading fast in my memory. I had a Viewsonic P95F+ 19" @ 1600x1200x85Hz and I loved it....but I'd never go back after this! I'm in love.

And the WOW factor is awsome, I had some friends over tonight who did not know about my love afair with computers. The followed the kids back and caught a glimpse of the monitor. They came back out like they'd just seen a ghost.

"Hey Miah, you think you computer monitor (?!?) is big enough?" I was laughing my a$$ off. They were in awe for the next 30min while I showed them some games.
